Plugin Madness 2024 has arrived!

It’s time for Torque’s annual Plugin Madness competition—the springtime classic in which 64 plugins enter the technical arena to determine which is the best-loved in WordPress.

With nearly 60,000 plugins available in the official WordPress directory and the ever-expanding market of premium plugins, there’s no shortage of options when it comes to enhancing your WordPress website and workflow.

Plugin Madness is your chance to spotlight the most innovative and impactful WordPress plugins—the ones that streamline processes, elevate your designs, and enhance functionality across websites—as well as the talented developers who create them.

Your votes will be instrumental in crowning this year’s Plugin Madness victor. But first, the Torque team needs your help in nominating your favorite MVP (Most Valuable Plugin) before the madness ensues.

Plugin Nominations and Voting Schedule

Plugin Madness kicks off with a formidable lineup: 64 of the very best, most useful WordPress plugins divided into four categories: Marketing, Optimization, Maintenance, and eCommerce. The Torque team relies on WordPress enthusiasts like you to nominate the plugins that have made a significant impact on your WordPress journey.

Whether it’s a plugin that has revolutionized your workflow, solved complex challenges with ease, or simply elevated your website to new heights, it can’t get the recognition it deserves unless it gets nominated!

So make sure to take the time to submit your favorites by heading over to Torque—nominations are open from February 12 to February 26, 2024.

To be eligible for nomination, plugins must be listed in the WordPress Plugin Repository, have been updated within the last 12 months, and be compatible with WordPress 6.2+.

Once nominations close, Torque staff will review and categorize the most nominated plugins into the aforementioned categories: Marketing, Optimization, Maintenance, and eCommerce.

After submitting your nomination, your job isn’t done! To ensure your favorites make it to the end, you’ll have to keep coming back as they compete head-to-head in weekly rounds of voting. The voting schedule is as follows:

• Week 1 (64): March 4–10
• Week 2 (32): March 11–17
• Week 3 (16): March 18–24
• Week 4 (8): March 25–31
• Week 5 (4): April 1–7
• Week 6 (2): April 8–14
• Winner Announced: April 15

Past Plugin Madness Winners

Over the last eight years, competition for the Plugin Madness crown has only gotten more intense. Last year, Advanced Custom Fields (ACF) won for the second time after taking home the gold during the inaugural tournament all the way back in 2016.

Other past winners include The Plus Addons for Elementor (2022), FluentCRM (2021), Elementor (2019 and 2020), and Smush (2017 & 2018).

While these powerhouse plugins might make another deep run this year, which, if any, Cinderella stories will rise to the top?
