Settings for “Add New Image Crop Size”

Perhaps I’m not understanding what the correct inputs for this setting should be, but so far, it doesn’t seem to have an effect on my images regardless of settings. My key issue is that various images in my post archive have different aspect ratios. I’d like to make them graphically consistent without manually editing each image. This seems to be one those mysterious aspects of WordPress that is not addressed by any code or plugin that I’ve tried. I just want to set the aspect ratio to something like 16:9, 3:2, 5:4, etc. and make that the standard for featured images. Wouldn’t it be nice to be able to do that, then let Optimole handle re-sizing on-the-fly.
