Phone number validation on checkout

hi,

When as a customer I enter my phone number’s first 6 digits, it checks for phone number format and changes my focus to the error up top that the phone number is invalid. Is there a way to have it validate at least after the user comes out of the phone field? I am using storefront theme right now.
