Every change to posted new draft to forum and email suers

Last night I noticed for the first time an option on my WordPress blog post site that offered me the chance to send the post to my online forum. I assumed that meant to send it when published. Instead, every time I changed the post-in-progress and hit Save, a new draft of the topic went to the forum and everyone who had signed up to be notified when there were new posts got an email. For HOURS. I didn’t notice until a user complained. I came back and looked at the field, and I see where it says it will post to the forum when you hit “Save.” So I supposed I was warned, but who would want this to work this way? It makes sense to post the blog topic to the forum when I hit “Publish,” not “Save.” Is there a trick I don’t know about? Or can this be changed to have some nuance as to when it will post?
