Homepage not being correctly directed. Possible htacess issue?

So I’ve had this site up and running perfectly without issues previously (maybe 6 or 7 years). I’ve had to transfer the site to a new hosting server and tried using Plesk to do an automatic import but that failed. So I did a manual transfer instead. No issues downloading the zipped folders and files and uploading to the new hosting server. The DNS was set and points correctly.

The site works fine – all the pages that are supposed to show up, show up, the site connects to the database fine. Except one …

The issue is the homepage. So, I have set https://tstar.com.au/about-us as the home page, so https://tstar.com.au should open up https://tstar.com.au/about-us but it doesn’t. If I type in https://tstar.com.au/about-us, it redirects to https://tstar.com.au – I believe that’s what it is supposed to do. All the other links for the pages on the nav bar show up fine as they should (about-us just shows as the domain url without a slug as I assume it should).

I have tried replacing the .htacces file, the index.php file, I’ve even reinstalled the core files for wordpress. I’ve re-created the homepage and used that instead, I’ve changed the homepage to another existing page and it is the same thing. I am re-directed to a default webpage for the hosting server – like I’ve not installed anything yet. It’s not a blank, white page. I’ve also changed the theme just in case.

The main diff between the two hosting servers is the absolute path – the previous being /home/<name>/public_html/<wordpress files> and the current being /var/www/vhosts/<name>/httpdocs/<wordpress files>

I wrote to the hosting company and they tested it – they sent me a screenshot to show that the homepage shows up and works as it should. Fantastic but that’s not the case on my end. They mentioned that it is likely a cache issue, which I had already considered and had cleared my cache multiple times. I’ve got 4 different devices with both chrome and firefox installed on each. All of them don’t show the homepage as it should and apart from my main computer, the other devices have never been to the website in the past. That means 8 browsers in my home are behaving in the same way.

So … either it works or it doesn’t. If anyone could help me out and suggest what might be going on, I’d be grateful. I’ve even asked ChatGPT for help but no luck. Should I just wipe all the files off the server and start again? I get the feeling that it’s not the install but perhaps something in the database – I’ve already looked in the “options” table. I’ve installed quite a few wordpress sites in the past without much issue. Something’s not quite right …
