10. Slack’s annual net loss grew to over $550 million in 2020

In February 2015, hackers were able to sneak into Slack’s database, which included usernames, email addresses, encrypted passwords and other content and data users chose to add to their profiles. The attack lasted four days before Slack could sort its security issues.

At the time, Slack used a one-way hash function for password encryption but then switched to two-factor authentication.
